Loving the lake life

Last weekend we loaded up and went to our friend's lake house. We are that classy couple that will pretty much invite ourselves to things like this! It was perfect for us as work has been a little hectic lately.

We totally fell in love with this secluded area. We are now trying to come up with a master plan to get a house out there, right after one of us wins the lottery. It's a smaller area with lots of families. And it had a private beach! Holton had an absolute blast playing in the sand at water.

Our attempt to get a family picture where all three of us are looking at the camera.

The next day we rented a pontoon boat for a couple of hours. Holton was all geared up to get on the boat. Notice the hat...due to his recent "hair cut."

Here we are leaving the boat dock. Adam was not really impressed with our pontoon boat. He said he saw a turtle out swim our boat.

Holton was a little nervous the further and further we got away from the land. We had to keep pointing out how close we were to the shore. That seemed to do the trick.

Even if Adam wasn't impressed with the boat's speed, Holton loved being the driver. He took it very seriously and would get mad if he felt Adam was trying to help him too much.

After all the excitement, he had to take a quick cat nap on the boat.

A big thank you to Jessica for letting us hang out at their place! Don't forget to let us know if any lake house goes on the market for half price!

Boat Hunting

Adam really likes the idea of buying a used boat in the next couple of years. He thinks it will be great for Holton in the hot Texas summers.

Since I don't know much of anything about boats (because you know I'm a true outdoors gal) we went to the local boat show to do some research.

We also got to hang out with "Mante" aka Monte and Mandy. Mandy is pregnant with their first baby!

While at the show, Holton got the chance to go fishing in a big tank stock full of fish. I don't really think these fish were too hungry after a day of easily taking the bait off the kids' fishing poles, but Holton liked it.
Don't mind my finger in the first picture.

Holton was very serious while fishing. He would not smile for any pictures while trying hard to concentrate on the task at hand!

For just $5.00 he was able to fish, which he loves, and then he got a fish trophy. He was very proud to show off his new prize.

Now that's my kind of fishing! Nothing stinky to bring home, cut up and cook. Just a nice little trophy for Holton's room!

A new hair cut.......

If that's what you want to call it! My mom took Holton to get a hair cut yesterday (which we totally appreciate), but I think the lady cutting Holton's hair needs a few more classes at the old beauty shop.

How bad can it be right? Well, here is a picture of Holton after a recent hair cut. See, a nice short and breezy summer do. (That's his girlfriend Kaylee and his Cousin Clayton)

And here is what he came home looking like yesterday....

The poor thing saw himself in the mirror last night and asked "where all my hair go?" He was so confused! I told him not to worry that it will grow back. He repeated that over and over as he was going to sleep "grow back". Ha! Oh my!

Like Aunt Amanda said, we'll definitely have to put a cap on him when he's out in the hot TX sun or he'll have one heck of a sunburn. Maybe we can tell people he's the world's youngest army recruit with that new look.

Nine Years, Baby!

On July 1st Adam and I celebrated our nine year wedding anniversary. It's hard to believe it's been that long, well I mean that's really a long time by Hollywood standards!

Strolling back through memory lane, I found a couple pictures at my office. Sorry for the junky quality, I took pictures with my phone of the actual photos in frames. Anyhoo, here is our engagement picture.

And here is a picture of me with my two brothers
To celebrate our anniversary, Adam sent me these beautiful flowers at work (always a very nice treat)

And then we had a great dinner at a fancy pants restaurant that we love. My mom kept Holton all night for us - thank you, Bev! And what welcomed us when we came home??? This was in our bathtub......

Can you think of a more romantic ending to a perfect evening?
