You may or may not know that Holton is famous for giving some of his signature "annoyed look". Here is one example: And, here is literally a two second video that captures "the look" in action. This is from Holton's recent hair cut. Our friend Kristi up in MN suggests that he gets it from me! Well, I never!
Here are a couple more less than enthusiastic pics of our little guy after receiving his new do
So now you know why I was so thrilled in my post below!
No, Holton hasn't mastered the art of potty training. That is still a work in progress. But, he actually smiled in his picture! My mom has our little niece and nephew in town and wanted to get a picture of all the grand kids. I am very happy with the results!
I LOVE this picture! He looks so adorable. This is his "Whatchu talkin' 'bout" look Here is where Holton started to lose his patience with the photo shoot. Photographer to Holton - "Ok Holton, how about we try one with you sitting off to the side. Move over a little more, a little more, perfect!"
What can we learn from this picture? Other than I really need to stop taking fuzzy pics with my Iphone......
1) Holton doesn't like to wear pants. It's usually a daily struggle of him saying "no pants, no pants!" Hence the outfit choice.
2) Notice the little cat at the bottom of the picture, well Holton loves to play with this thing. He takes it off our shelf a lot and puts the cat on a blanket and treats it like it's a real animal. And guess what he named it? Grandpa Cat. Ha, ha, ha. Sorry dad. (Holton calls Adam's dad - Papa)
3) Notice the doll house? I mentioned Holton is really into Dora now. Well, our friend Teresa gave Holton a lovely hand me down Dora house! It makes me feel better that her son used to play with Dora toys and is now into Star Wars, Transformers, all the manly toys. So, here is my little man posing by his new toy.
Holton was quite the busy fella this weekend. On Friday, Uncle Patrick stopped by to bring him a present from a truck stop. Usually when a truck stop is involved, expectations are pretty low. But check out this cute big rig! Saturday night Holton hung out with his daddy for some guy bonding while I had dinner with some of my old sorority sisters. I have to admit it was pretty nice to be out to eat and not worry about gulping down your food for fear of your child losing his patience and having to make a mad dash for the exit. Been there, done that.
On Sunday Holton played a little hide and seek over at Grandma & Grandpa's house. And then he got to help park our newly inherited jeep. My parents wanted it out of their garage and so it found a new home with us. Holton loved sitting there with Grandpa...I'm pretty sure Holton thinks the jeep is for him! Holton finished his weekend with a little sleepwalking in his room last night. Poor thing was crying and I found him out of his bed, standing by his little desk and books (in the dark??). I didn't feel the need to take a picture of that event ;)
Adam and I are both really frustrated with ABC. First, they put on this debacle of a scripted "The Bachelor" where a girl gets dumped on National TV. Don't believe it was all scripted at her expense then check out this link - "Reality Steve". He had all the inside scoop weeks ago!
As if that wasn't bad enough, ABC has now canceled Life on Mars. It was the ONE SHOW Adam and I would watch together. Seriously ABC, cancel a quality show, but let's roll out season 52 of the failed Bachelor. So, if you have a minute, please sign this petition to save Life on Mars. It would make Adam very happy ;) Just click on this - "Save Life on Mars"
So how about an update on some of Holton's favorite things to watch. Just this morning he threw a fit when Adam put on Diego. Holton said "No Diego! Dora!" So I guess he is into Dora this week. I put an episode of Dora on my IPhone last night and that must have encouraged his current infatuation.
Also on my IPhone is a video of this fantastic singer, Adele. I love her! When you download her album on Itunes, you also get a video of her singing "Melt My Heart to Stone". Holton will watch her video over and over on my phone. It's nice to know he appreciates the 2009 Grammy Award winner for Best New Artist. Holton is very hip.
Yes, we've had a few quiet, relaxing, nothing too exciting kind of days going on & that all changed yesterday. Poor Holton fell off of a foot stool and hit his head on my mom's kitchen floor.....which is tile of course! His head took the brunt of the fall, but I'm happy to report that he seems to be just fine now.
When it happened, my mom was just going to bring him to our pediatrician to be examined. But Holton fell asleep and wanted to stay that way, which is never good with a head injury. We were talking on the phone trying to figure out the best game plan and I hear Holton saying "night night" over and over, so I told my mom to call 911.
Adam hightailed it to my mom's and met the paramedics, EMT and local firefighters. Holton was acting goofy, lethargic, and kind of slurring his words (well, more than a toddler usually does). They thought Holton was ok, but wanted him cheeked out by the ER doctor or our pediatrician. We opted to take him to our pediatrician and she gave him the all clear after a a thorough exam. He had a mild concussion, but nothing as serious like a skull fracture. We had to limit his activities, wake him while sleeping, and just overall take it easy for a bit.
This was taken a hour after he fell. Poor fella, you can already see the bruise.
I am a very proud working mom to our sons, Holton & Weston. Adam and I have been married for 12 years. We are enjoying the joys of juggling two kids, work, dogs, and everything in between. It's never ending entertainment around our house - wouldn't change a thing!
