Look who turned 60!

That's right, Grandpa turned the big 6-0 on Wednesday! It was so great that Dad was not working (in Colombia)for his big day. His work schedule keeps him pretty busy workign 2 weeks down there and 1 week home. Holton just adores his Granpa so we were so happy to be with him on his birthday.

How did we celebrate? First, Grandpa helped us out by bringing Weston to the doctor for his 6 month check up. Doesn't that sound fun? He just loved waiting in the lobby with all the kids.

Then he picked up Holton from school (which absolutely made his day) and we went out for a nice Italian dinner. Grandma couldn't make the dinner because she was taking care of sweet little sick Sutton.
So notice that cake in the fuzzy picture? It's tiramisu and Holton just had to eat half of it with Grandpa. Between the chocolate and caffeine, Holton was wired! Next time we'll just let Grandpa enjoy the entire cake.

Happy Birthday, Dad! We love you!

Remembering

On March 18th Adam's Grandfather, Wes, unexpectedly passed away. You may remember reading about him on our blog back in 2007. http://holtonsblog.blogspot.com/2007/03/meeting-great-grandpa.html

Wes grew up in Oklahoma where he worked his family's ranch. He was one tough cowboy! So to honor him, Adam, his brothers and our boys all wore cowboys boots.

The boys with Uncle Patrick
Wes was a great man who will be dearly missed. I thought I'd end this with Adam's post about his Grandpa.

I believe I speak for all of the grandsons when I say we have lost our idle. We wanted to be like Wes - a strong, fearless cowboy who was as tough as they come. His rough side was accompanied by a big heart and a willingness to help people. He had so many qualities that you admire in a man. As kids, he could give a serious look and say something that garnered the utmost level of fear and respect. As adults, we have a better understanding of where that look and demeanor was coming from. All will miss his sense of humor and that laugh when he really got going. We have many fond memories of riding around in an old truck on the ranch surveying the land, cattle, and wheat. We might stop to check on a tractor, put out some cake, look at a new well or even take a shot at a stray coyote. The rides would always be followed by a trip to the cafe discuss events with others and to flirt with the waitress while having a piece of pie. This was a close as it gets to a perfect day for some "city" boys lucky enough to hang out with their hero.

Help with the boys

Recently my mom and dad took our niece and nephew to Disney World. They all had a great time, but having them away meant we needed some help with the boys. So Papa and Nana came in to spend the week with with us.

They had a great time with the boys. For St. Patrick's day they spent some time at the park and snapped a few pictures. Look, Holton even made a friend!

Adam and I got to enjoy a night out too! We met up with our goood friends Holly & Jay to celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary. Thank you Papa & Nana!

Enjoying Ft. Worth

One of the great things about living in the "burbs" is that we can be in a big city within minutes. We recently spent a Sunday in Ft. Worth and had a great time with the boys.

We made a point to stop at the one and only Joe T. Garcia's. It's fantastic! They have 2 things on the menu...that's it! And their patio is beautiful, just perfect for kids.

Sorry about the picture quality. These are from my phone.

Too young to enjoy their famous margaritas

And as luck would have it, our good friends happened to be in Ft. Worth on the same day! So they came over and joined us.

The kids had so much fun running and playing. Holton was fast asleep once we headed home.

A little Irish fun!

In preparation for St. Patrick's Day, we hit up the local Irish Festival. The weather was perfect, we enjoyed great music and our boys had fun!

We joined Patrick, Amanda and sweet Sutton.

This was Holton's lunch

Holton said the dinosaur on his shirt was green, so that was plenty green enough.

The boys were worn out at the end of the day.

Really worn out!

Weston's 5 Month Update

We are a little late with Weston's five month update since he was sick. But I didn't really think that would make the best pictures (wouldn't capture his sweet lil smile). But, here is!
We have really been blessed with a sweet little guy. He's always smiling, always wakes up in the best mood and is just a joy to watch each day.
And he's now a total Daddy's boy. His eyes will just follow Adam around the room and he'll laugh and smile at him the whole time.

Holton really wanted to get in the picture with Weston. We couldn't ask for a better big brother. He calls Weston "his baby" and is always looking after him. It's the cutest thing to see! Now, talk to me in about 10 years...

Holton the dance machine

Update - Grandma Bev has since reported that Holton looks like Steve Martin in the Movie "The Jerk". Ha, ha, poor little guy! He just has his own style. He's still precious & cracks me up when he plays that game.

Holton loves to play that Wii dance game. The concept is that you have to follow the person on screen and do all their dance moves. And this is his favorite song to dance to - he calls it the robot song.

He's such a cute kid! Just love him so much! His cuteness certainly overshadows our laundry basket, the baby toys and the 2 giant dogs roaming around our living room.

Monster Jam!

Months ago Adam bought tickets to the annual Monster Jam show out at the new Cowboy Stadium. Yes, as I've said before, we like to keep it classy!

Well, when it came time for the show, Adam was out of town. He was enjoying a very snowy boys ski weekend in Tahoe. Check him out!

So, Papa and Nana stepped in to save the day! They took Holton to the Monster Jam show. Now, I don't quite think this type of event is really appealing to everyone, but Holton had a fantastic time at the show. I hope it wasn't too loud in there for Nana & Papa.

Holton really did have a blast. He even wore his monster truck shirt to the show. Thank you to Nana and Papa for helping us out! Monster Jam crowd, look out! Next year we'll be there with both our boys.
