A whole new room

Holton recently changed rooms at his daycare, which we call school. He had to move to the two year old class where he now has weekly themes, they have a set schedule of daily activities, they brush their teeth and they start potty training!

The new room also means new teachers and this didn't set well with him. It was really tough on him for a while. He cried a lot as he missed his previous teachers. But I'm happy to report he's doing much better with the daily drop off (so says Adam). Now we just have to work on brushing his teeth. They wrote on his daily report that he "doesn't want to brush his teeth", that 'he just wants to play with the tooth brush". And to that I say - ya, who wouldn't? Tooth brushes make the perfect toy. Holton is easily amused ;)

This was the first time I've ever seen him play with Playdough. Surprising because he doesn't like "mushy" things.

He's happy in his new room. Especially with a good old wooden boat.

Oh what a night!

My company had our annual Holiday Party last week and we had a great time! They always put on the best shin dig for us employees. We had a casino, DJ, food, dancing and this year they had the game Rock Band - now that was interesting. Adam and I partied like rock stars and we even walked away with a free TV!

We received raffle tickets for X amount of gambling chips. At the end of the night Adam only had two tickets so I thought our chances were slim. The first prize they gave away was the lovely 40 inch flat screen tv and I won! I was so excited that I jumped up and down, screamed Adam's name like Rocky yelled Adrian, and I even gave an acceptance speech. The TV fits perfectly in Holton's playroom.

We celebrated the rest of the night at the hotel while my mom watched Holton - thanks Bev.

Worst lighting ever in this picture? Adam looked really cute. His tie matched my jewelry....awwww!

I attempeted to play Rock Band. Mainly I just stood there and the DJ had to pitch in and sing for us.

Here I am in complete shock, eyes closed, getting ready to give my speech.

Look who was Mr. Popular that night? Everyone was glad to see a healthy Adam after his scare this year.

Mountain Man

Adam and Patrick went hunting in Oklahoma over the weekend. I guess it was a successful trip because they are bringing back 3 deer. Here is Adam's nine point - my dad had to explain what that meant. I'm what you might call a true City Gal.

Happy Hunting out there!

The best aquarium....ever!

Geez, I should get a kick back for this post. While in California, we went to the Monterey Aquarium. If you are ever in the area I highly recommend you stop by. It was a huge aquarium with countless activities for kids. We had so much fun watching Holton explore the whole place.

Holton was doing some research on Shamu

Here is Adam trying to get Holton to touch some of the sea life

How artistic, don't you think? Amanda took this picture.

He loved the slide

Me and my little guy

We had a heck of a time getting Holton to leave this play area.

Patrick and a sleepy looking Holton.

I love this picture of the newlyweds. Adam, Holton and I took one of these, but the pictures are still on my mom's camera. Look for us in the clam on your Christmas card.

Holton's Birthday

We celebrated Holton's 2nd Birthday in California! We were in town for my cousin's wedding. And I really lucked out and found this wonderful bakery on line and they created the perfect cake for us.

Thankfully I took these pictures before we had the birthday lunch. That is when Adam forgot the cake was in the stroller (because I wouldn't let anyone hand carry the cake for fear of dropping it) and he flipped the cake box over. Let's just say I was not thrilled with that. Poor Adam. But, all was ok. When it came time to cut up the cake and give everyone a piece, Holton started to cry. He was very upset that Adam cut apart Thomas....LOL.

Anyhoo, Holton really liked the part where he got to open his gifts from Patrick & Amanda. Here he is enjoying his presents.

Because you are only two once, I had a shirt made for his big day :)

Now, I must give my review on Carmel, California. Two words - never again! The people are crazy there. You could hear a pin drop at any restaurant in that dang town. Seriously, they don't talk there. People were giving us the worst looks during our lunch. If you are wanting a warm, friendly, place.....avoid Carmel. It was so quiet in our restaurant that we had to whisper sing Happy Birthday to Holton! Check out the bitter family behind us.

We ignored the snooty folk and had a good time celebrating with our little guy! He just kept on playing and didn't notice any negativity. Happy Late B-Day baby boy.

I'm late on Halloween

I am very behind in updating the blog. Yes, I'm just now getting around to posting Halloween Pictures. Holton was a dinasour that carried a Thomas the Train Bucket. He has his a unique fashion sense.

Holton with his older buddy, Owen.

We went to Robin's house first and enjoyed all her decorations.

I must have been really funny.

We may have a new Star Wars fan.

Holton is two today!

It is so hard to believe that our little guy is 2 years old! They say that time flies, and it's so true. It seems like just yesterday we were checking into the hospital for his delivery.

Holton has brought so much happiness to our lives and I can't tell you how much I love being his mom. Oh sure there are good and bad days with any toddler. But most of the time Holton cracks us up and it's so much fun watching him learn each day.

Right now he's talking up a storm - when he isn't being completely shy. You really have to watch what you say around him because he'll repeat whatever he hears. Some of his favorite things to say:

• Come here - says this to me, Adam and always to Gus
• Excuse me, mamma - this is when he wants me to move
• Bye guys – says this to his friends at school
• Choo Choo Train
• Thomas – he loves trains
• Fix it - started saying that this week when the plumber came to our house
• Chocolate milk - this one is a big player in our house

So Happy 2nd Birthday, Holton!! Your dad and I love you more than anything in this world!

All things Fall

I know I'm very behind on the blog and now I'm playing catch up!

Below are some pictures of Holton enjoying fall activities. OK, so you may not think he enjoyed himself by the stern look on his face, but I promise he did. He's been to two pumpkin patches and loves to say pumpkin over and over. And, he was very impressed with the Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin show last night. The big pumpkin at the start was very intriguing to him. He said - whoa, big pumpkin!

Dee, Kaylee, Holton and me went to a pumpkin patch at the Frisco Rough Riders stadium.

They were not thrilled with the idea of waiting in line. But, Holton was kind enough to hold Kaylee's bag. See - they are meant to be!

The kids scoping out the perfect pumpkin

Is it too early to plan their wedding? Seriously, Holton looks more interested in that tiny pumpkin and Kaylee was just enjoying the popcorn.

Bev and I took Holton to another pumpkin patch. If you notice, he needed help from Thomas the Train that day.

Yea, we didn't do this ride. Holton was ok with a photo op....and nothing more.

And, I enjoyed a little October festivities too! Last week I went to two great Halloween parties. I love seeing the different costumes......some were not fit for this blog.

Me as a 50's car hop, Teresa as a Margarita, and Jess as a sexy flight attendant.

Check out this hot guy we danced with at Robin's party.

He was very popular.

Random Pictures

I'm still waiting to download some pictures from our camera. We've been pretty busy with fall activities like the state fair, pumpkin patches, playing at the park etc. But here are some random photos in the meantime.

In early September we hit up the local fall festival. It was sooooo hot, but Holton loved this ride.

That's him at the top of the ladder about to go down the slide. He had no fear this day!

Adam's Uncle sent us this one. My two Hawaiian Guys!

Holton was very happy partying late into the night.

We have some great pictures from the State Fair, but here are a couple from my phone.

We went to a birthday/costume party on Sunday. Holton was a dinosaur with a pacifier and matching flashlight (a new twist on an old costume) and I'm a cave woman in a wind storm, with trendy, knock-off glasses.

It's no big deal, right?

I took Holton to the store to stock up on overnight diapers and I thought I'd treat to him to one new toy. He first picked up a great yellow school bus with kids inside. We were leaving the aisle when out of the corner of his eye he noticed a wall of pink and lavender. Seeing this I moved the cart quicker and quicker. But I was too slow.

Holton pushed his yellow shcool bus away and said "no bus"! He pointed and cried for the same exact toy, but in all pink! I could just hear Adam yelling "nooooooo" all the way from his golf trip in Vegas. So I put the yellow and the pink shcool bus side by side and let him choose. Well......

Holton even slept with this bus on Saturday night. Sorry Adam, I tried.

A ride and an insult

So last week I resorted to bribing my almost two year old. He needed a haircut so off we went to the mall. It was no coincidence we chose one that had a Thomas the Train store. So during his haircut, when he was less than enthusiastic, I just kept saying "choo choo train". Well it worked and the minute we were out of the barber chair Holton was headed for the train store.

Currently, choo choo trains are at the top of Holton's list of favorites. Here are his other faves:

• Toy ball
• Dinosaur
• Trucks/Cars
• Shamu
• Ice Cream

We did the train "ride" first. It circles around the store a couple of times. Holton of course wanted me to ride with him. Right before I sit down with him the kid running the machine says to me - just don't lean over too much to one side or it might tip over. Really? Really teenage kid working at a train store?

It looks like we were really trucking along here. Notice how straight my back was during the ride? No tipping for me!

Holton found a possible 2nd Birthday present.

It was so great to watch his face light up with all the Thomas toys. I just told Holton to never grow up like that lovely teenage boy. All in all, a good learning lesson, a good haircut and a happy Holton.
