A couple "new" things

First, let's start with Holton. He has a new favorite t.v. show. It almost makes me sad to say this, but Holton is over Thomas the Train. For a while this was the only show he wanted to watch, the only toys he wanted to play with, and it was the theme of his 2nd birthday, but Holton has moved on to bigger things.
He now loves Diego! I mean he loves this guy, his show, and all his toys. I'm ok with the change because Diego does teach him a a lot about animals and it's a very interactive show with some hip songs (are you familiar with the rescue pack song - yeah)! I love listening to Holton say "yes" or "no" when they ask questions about the animals they are trying to find. It's very cute.

So, we'll see how long Diego will be the flavour of the month. Here is Holton on Saturday running around with his Diego camera.

We'll end today's post with Adam and his "new tattoo" he acquired at the NASCAR race on Saturday. He and his friend Brian were very proud of themselves.

Happy Valentine's Day!

How do we keep the romance alive after 8 years of marriage when Valentine's Day rolls around? Adam heads off to Daytona for the big NASCAR race while Holton and I stay home. Ha! Just call me Dr. Laura.

Anyhoo, here are some of Holton's pictures we had made for Valentine's. Notice he insisted on keeping those neon balls in all the pictures. That's ok, he still looks adorable!

So, how did we do?

I'm very pleased to report that we a blast in Oklahoma! I guess it really is all about the company, because we had a great group and a wonderfully dirtbag weekend.

There were six of us in all and we had plenty of room at the Family Lodge. The "redneck club" included Patrick and Amanda, Monte and Mandy, and Adam & me.

Our home away from home
And guess what? I really enjoyed four wheeling. I didn't like to go too fast and Adam was a very courteous driver. After we rode with the boys, Amanda and I took off on our own. I actually found myself screaming "weeeeeeee" while I got the four wheeler up to an impressive 40 MPH!

I didn't go coyote hunting, but I did shoot some of the guns at beer cans and shooting clays. Oh and on Saturday night we sat in the truck while the boys tried to round up a coyote, but we didn't see one. (you might be a redneck if.....)

Here I am shooting while Patrick watches in frustration. How hot is my outfit?

Mandy shooting as Patrick and Monte supervise.

Monte doing his very own Ford commercial with his new truck. The guys were in love with his ride!

This is while we were arrow head hunting. We all came up empty handed.

The Newlyweds. Patrick strategiclly opened his shirt just for this picture.

Here we are around the lake. Thankfully we didn't see any snakes.

Saturday night we drove over to the local restuarant for some good ole' Chicken Fried Steak, hamburgers and beer. We met some very interesting characters!

No doubt the most interesting man we met was named Paul. He boldly told us that many years ago at A&M he got into a fight with a man. He said that man is no longer with us....and Paul got kicked out of school. Not knowing what to say, we said he was a very tough guy. He responded, "No, I'm just Paul". The look on Monte's face about sums it all up.

After we ate our lovely meal.

Mandy and Monte, who Adam christened, "Manty". It's like the new Brangelina.

Adam with his Unlce Doug

My sister-in-law who had no problems with the outdoor life! She didn't even complain that Patrick didn't shower Saturday and Sunday.

Finally, I'll leave you with a picture of Patrick, his birthday cake, and a skull. Need I say more.......

Patrick's Birthday Weekend

My little brother, Patrick, will turn 30 on Monday. To celebrate his big day we will be enjoying a truly redneck weekend. We are loading up tonight and driving about 5 hours to a very small town in Oklahoma. Adam's Grandpa lived there until a couple years ago and the family still has a lodge on their land.

What are we doing you might ask? Oh, a little four wheeling, coyote hunting and who knows what else. Can you picture me doing any of that? I must really love my brother and my husband to endure such a weekend. But, as Adam says, it's not about me!

So wish us luck with our outdoor adventures. And thanks to Pa Pa and Na Na for watching Holton while we are away.

Under the weather

We had a lovely little 24-36 hour bug that hit our house this week. Holton had it first and then I got it late Sunday night. So on Monday I only worked half a day, came home, tried to watch some soap operas (really terrible by the way, what has happened to Days of our Lives) and I just didn't move an inch until my alarm went off Tuesday morning.

Adam was such a great help to me by doing our laundry, taking care of Holton, our two dogs and bringing me several cans of sprite. Adam even brought me dinner in bed (that my mom made - thanks, Mom). When my guys delivered my food, Holton came right up to the bed and handed me a can of sprite and said "here ma ma". He was very proud of himself for helping his daddy!

We're much better now and I just wanted to give a "shout out" to Adam for helping this week. He gave Holton his bath on Monday night as I watched the Bachelor - nothing like some quality reality tv. Here is our little sweetheart actually saying cheese.

The next Tiger?

First, let me say how Adam gets on to me about spoiling Holton. He's always making comments about many toys he has, how he doesn't need this, doesn't need that etc.

Well, we went out for a family breakfast on Sunday and then Adam wanted to stop to buy some running shoes. He then decides Holton needs a new football. Did we get the football? No. We walked out of the store with a new set of toddler golf clubs for Holton!

And to make sure Holton keeps working on his game, Adam also picked this up for him!

Now who is spoiling our little guy? I'm not worried a bit. Holton loves playing with his new golf clubs and little putting green. Look out Tiger!
