We haven't had Holton's picture taken in ages. The reason - he rarely enjoys this. It's usually a big production trying to get him to smile or sit still.
Well I'm happy to say that Holton has turned over a new leaf. We went to Target to get some pics for his 3 year old pics and he did awesome! It brought tears to my eyes when I saw how wonderful they were (can you say Christmas presents for all our family :)
Anyhoo, my dad works over in Colombia for 2 weeks and is then home for a week. Thankfully he had some free time on his hands! My dad was nice enough to put all the pictures together in this little video. Thank you so much, Grandpa! Holton can't wait to see you next week.

Holton is 3!
We had a great party for Holton last weekend with a huge bounce house, pinata, tons of food and presents! Thank you to all who attended for help in making Holton's birthday even more special.
I'm trying to get all the pictures uploaded into a slide show, but for now, click on this picture below to see some of the 100+ pictures Amanda took for us. And there is a mini-slide show at the top of this page. I'm working on getting it to be in a larger format.

Time for a party
Tomorrow we'll be celebrating Holton's 3rd Birthday! It's so hard to believe that he's growing up so quickly.
Adam and I are so blessed to have Holton in our lives. He is turning into such a funny character! And when he gives you those big hugs and says he loves you...there's no better feeling!
We are going to have a Diego themed party with lots of friends and family. Amanda was sweet enough to pick up this huge Diego Pinata while in San Antonio.

Happy early Birthday to Holton! Your dad and I love you more than you could ever know.

Happy about Halloween
This is the cute t-shirt I got Holton at the craft fair. It was great to find something fun for him to wear to school today.

Here is our little artist working on "carving" his first pumpkin. Notice the fancy art work on there!

And here's Holton and his best friend, Gus, with the finished product (thanks to Adam).

Really...he has chickenpox?
Last week I attended a conference while Adam was wrapping up his hunting trip to Colorado. My mom was nice enough to watch Holton for us.
On Wednesday she called me to tell me about his picture day at school and how she noticed a rash on his legs. She was convinced it was chickenpox. So on Thursday morning, I set up a doctor appointment. And guess what? The pediatrician confirmed he has chickenpox.
Holton had the vaccine at 4 months, but she said 25% of kids will still get the virus. Can you believe that? With all the swine flu buzz, he gets chickenpox.
Thankfully, Holton is doing just great. Here is he is trying on his Halloween costume. Yep, he asked to put it on!

A great girls weekend..."crafting"
Bev and I had a great time at the annual craft fair in beautiful North West Arkansas. I mean , we just don't have trees like this in the Big D.

Going to the craft fair has been our tradition for years. My mom's best friend Glenda was always a wonderful hostess for us. Sadly, Glenda passed away three years ago. This was the first year we'd been back to the fair since that time. We had a great time with Glenda's daughter, Roni.

The Craft Fair Crew

Here's a sample of what you can buy or see at the craft fair

Cute Halloween candy stand, Roni's son Hunter was not for sale at the craft fair.

They have all the fantastic fried food at the craft fair. You can't beat a good funnel cake.

We bought Holton a couple items from the craft fair. Look how happy a little wood truck made our little guy!

And this is some famous Craft Fair yard art. Adam just LOVES yard art of any kind (note sarcasm), but it makes Holton happy, so we're keeping it.

Ok Adam, I could have come home with this timeless beauty

Different interests
Here's what I'm doing this weekend.

This is what Adam is doing.

Yep, my mom and I are heading to the annual craft fair up in Arkansas while Adam, Patrick and Dad all go hunting in Colorado.
This tradition has been going on for years. Us gals have a great time shopping for holiday decorations, jewelry, candles, anything you can imagine while the men folk are bonding up in the cold mountains of Colorado.
I'll post pictures of both our adventures later. Thank you to Nana and Papa for watching Holton while we are both away!

Our brush with fame
Yesterday Adam and I decided to take Holton to the great State Fair of Texas. The buzz around town has been all about Oprah taping her show from the Fair on Monday October 12th.
Well, as luck would have it, guess who made a surprise appearance on Sunday?
This picture is from a co-worker. It looks like they were close enough to touch Oprah.
When we got to to the Fair, Adam & I immediately saw the Oprah crew filming Big Tex. Then, we saw the police motorcycles escort in a huge camera on a crane. And you couldn't miss the two helicopters circling the air. The rumor was Oprah was in the helicopter scoping out the scene. All of this commotion got us pretty excited!
I finally said we needed to move on because who knew if we'd ever see Oprah. So off we went to look at the new cars. As we're leaving the GMC trucks, we see a caravan of police motorcycles, mini van and several black SUVs. I about died and we started to run towards the action.
We first saw Oprah's best friend Gayle King. I waved and hollered "Hi Gayle!" Adam said she looked very happy that someone recognized her - ha - and Gayle smiled & waved back at me. The cars all stopped and everyone swarmed to take pictures. Holton and I stayed back a little bit and these are pics from my phone.
You can click on any of these pictures to see the bigger version.

That's Oprah's head in the car (between her scary security guy and the guy taking the picture)

I immediately called Patrick and Amanda and told them to get out there. They hopped in the car and check out the pictures that Amanda got!

Check out Oprah eating a famous Texas State Fair Corny Dog

Oprah bought her cowboy hat a the local Stetson booth - wonder how much that cost?

It was really cool to be that close to such a huge celebrity. Even Adam was very impressed with it all. So how did we top all this? Adam, Patrick and Amanda did this...
Look really close at the pic above. See the orange jacket? That's them on the top right - way high up in the air. No thanks!

You gotta love the fair...even this guy.

The Expanding Kelly Family
No, this isn't an announcement about anyone being pregnant. My older brother, Scott, recently got married to his girlfriend Jessica. Jessica is wonderful with our niece and nephew. Last weekend we were able to meet our new family members -Jessica and her cute son Aaron.

Dad treated us all to a great dinner. This is Holton clinging to his Grandpa like a monkey.

Holton was very excited to see his cousins!

After dinner we came back to our house for cake, presents and just hanging out.

Monte (aka Butthead) even came over to hang out with us. By the looks of this picture, we may need to invest in some more living room furniture!
