My first Mother's Day!

I had a great first Mother’s Day weekend. On Saturday we loaded up for East Texas. First, we stopped at Uncle Roy and Aunt Yvonne’s house to spend time with quite a bit of family. Holton got to see his Na Na and Pa Pa, meet Uncle Glyn and Aunt Karen, and he roamed around Roy and Yvonne’s beautiful house and land. I swear, Holton is such a country boy. He loves to be outside! Yvonne showed us their lake and even their donkeys! Holton had a really good time looking around at all the sights!

Then we headed over to see Grandma Vali, Patsy and all of the crew. Holton stayed up late visiting with all of his Uncles and Bill. He didn’t really sleep too much (probably from all of his excitement). I woke up Sunday morning to Adam putting a very runny nosed Holton down on the bed. All I could think is why haven’t you cleaned his dang nose! Then I noticed that Holton was chewing on a Tiffany & Co. bag! It was so sweet! Adam did such a great job with my first Mother’s Day present. He got me a beautiful bracelet with Holton’s name engraved on a heart locket. I just loved it! He also gave me the cutest card from Holton…..scribbles and all!!

I am so thankful to have such a great family and I am so proud to be Holton’s mommy! Even if he is a little high maintenance right now! Anyway, hope you enjoy the new pictures.

Road trip to Alabama!!

Enjoy the slide show from our trip to Jasper, Alabama! Dee, Casey, Kaylee, Kim, Adam and Holton all made the 10 hour drive to see Bev and Benton (aka Grandma and Grandpa). We were also in Alabama for the NASCAR race at Talladega (such quality people watching).

Poor Holton’s teeth chose that weekend to start making their debut. He was in so much pain, which made it rough on the rest of us. I think it’s safe to say Kaylee is over him so Holton may have to find a new girlfriend. But, we had an awesome time at the race and it was great to see everyone in Alabama.

P.S. - Dee and I agreed we would fly next year!
P.S.S. - Holton is 6 months old today!

Mmmmm...........food!

Holton will be 6 months old next week, so we started him on solid baby foods. He's never liked the rice formula or the oatmeal version. No! He has a taste for the finer things in life like sweet potatoes and squash! And just like his mom, he loves food and seems to be ok with trying different flavors.

The doctors recommend that you stick with the same type of vegetable for about 3 days in order to watch for any negative reaction. So far so good! His favorite food right now - sweet potatoes. And he definitely let's you know when he's done eating. He keep his lips shut so tight….it's really funny. Now we're just praying the food will help him sleep!

How Holton indirectly caused a black eye

It’s been about two weeks since Holton was sick, so of course he was due for another bug of some type. Thursday night he came down with some stomach virus and poor thing couldn’t keep any food down. We even tried Pedia Lite and that didn’t work. Just before we leave for the doctor’s office that afternoon Adam and I agree that we are starting to feel very sick. But, we had to get Holton checked out first. So, off Holton and I go to the doctor’s office while Adam stays home because he’s feeling extremely sick. Holton was given the all clear by the doctor. He was suddenly one hungry fella who kept all of his food down!

Back at home, the virus starts to hit Adam and me. It was awful! So awful that Adam actually blacked out for a minute and hit his head on the toilet! I was so worried, but Adam insisted he was just fine. Now that we’re all better, he has a nice shiner to show off around town.
It’s not really the “coolest” story, but hey, at least Adam will fit it in at Talladega this weekend. NASCAR, here we come!

Our first vacation away from Holton

Holton is doing much better and is over his RSV, so we decided to go on a vacation that was planned months ago. We went to Cancun with our good friends while Nana and Papa took care of our little man.

Check out our view! This was the first time I've ever been away from Holton, so it was really hard on me. On the second day, we ate at a restaurant where they filmed the Tom Cruise "classic", Cocktail. It was a great lunch and a beautiful day, but then I saw a family with a baby. I lost it! I cried and was so bummed out all that day. But somehow, I don't think Holton missed us too much.....judging by this picture.

Mom and Dad who?? We had a great time on our trip. We even had massages on the beach, but it was so fantastic to get home to Holton. He is now being smothered with hugs and kisses.

Easter

Happy Easter! We celebrated Easter in Sulphur Springs. Holton was able to see so many relatives. He spent time with his Grandma, Great Grandma, Great Grandpa, his Uncles, cousins and more! Holton soaked up every minute by scanning the room for all activity. He didn't even want to take a nap for fear he'd miss something! Hope you all had a great weekend.

A rough week

Last week was pretty stressful around our house! Holton was really sick with a fever, coughing and the most pitiful moaning. We took him to the doctor and he was diagnosed with RSV, a respiratory virus. We had to start him on breathing treatments that day. He didn't really like them too much at first and squirmed all around trying to get away from the mask. But, he eventually relaxed and sat there with his mouth wide open. The doctor’s office warned us to take him to the hospital if he got too bad, but they didn’t give us clear guidelines. Adam and I being the first time parents had quite a time trying to judge the situation.

But, we are happy to report he is doing much better and is back at “school”. He's now down to 3 breathing treatments a day and we go back to the doctor next week. We are so grateful that Holton didn't have to go to the hospital. To document our lovely week, Adam created this video of Holton's breathing treatments. Notice the credits at the end!
