A Texas Country Wedding

We recently helped Adam's family prepare for a wedding in Sulphur Springs. Adam's younger cousin Valerie married her sweetheart Andrew.

The location was Patsy's home on the golf course in Double S (that's what the cool kids call it). Patsy is Adam's Grandma and she has a huge yard and a great view of the golf course and pond.

Before the wedding actually took place on that Saturday night, we had a lot of work to do. Adam's whole family pitched in to prepare for a wedding and reception to fit any city girl's needs!

They had to clear the back yard and lay down sod and dirt. They also had to build a porch and a dance floor!

What did Holton do the whole time we were sweating our tails off?

Holton had a great time while we were working. He absolutely loves going to Patsy’s house to play outside all day long. The hot Texas sun doesn't bother him one bit!

He also likes to "drive" the golf carts. Here he is with Patsy.

And here is our little guy with Adam and Uncle Blake.

The wedding was so perfect. Check out the flowers - I thought they were just the right choice for an outdoor wedding.

The beautiful bride, Valerie. She was cool as a cucumber before the ceremony. She was even on her laptop and "twittered" Her dress was gorgeous and I loved her veil.
They got married on Patsy's front porch and it was really pretty.

The reception was in Patsy's back yard. All the hard work paid off! They had a huge tent for the guests to sit and relax and watch everyone dance.

Valerie dancing with Clay, her daddy :)

Thankfully Holton was very good at the reception. He enjoyed watching everybody. Holton and Vali catching their breath in the tent.

Grandpa and Holton

Grandma loves to dance and she made sure Holton joined her on the dance floor.
This is the only shot I was able to get of Holton and his cousin Zoe. She has the cutest head of curly hair!

As you can see, Holton thought the wedding and reception was a smashing success!

We had front row seats!!!

To George Strait at the new Cowboys stadium? To a NASCAR race? To the Britney Spears show? No, no, no. We had front row seats to Thomas the Train! The actors started the show in the audience, right in front of us, and Holton wasn't too sure about things at first. We did have three seats, but he just wanted to sit in our laps.

But, then he couldn't take his eyes off the stage! He loved seeing all the trains and the actors dancing.

Right after intermission I did have to remind Adam to put his cell phone away as we were in the front row and the actors could clearly see us. We both agreed that the actors probably weren't really jazzed about singing Thomas songs over and over - ha.

All in all it really wasn't a bad show. I must say this show was much better than the live Backyardigan's show.

Holton really loved the Thomas the Train flashlight/swirly thing. When they performed a song, Holton would fling this thing around with the music. And yes, I did give in and buy Holton a red Thomas the Train t-shirt.

The show ended with a bunch of confetti falling down on all us. Once it was officially over, a lot of parents rushed the stage and grabbed the paper....ummm ok. For a scrapbook I guess. (Check out the gal who is blurry because she was running so fast!) We settled for a fuzzy picture of Adam and Holton.

Happy Birthday, Adam!

Today is Adam's 34th birthday and he's on the road this week. If you get a chance, send Adam an e-mail or facebook birthday wish. Holton and I love you very much, Adam! We'll celebrate this weekend by Holton sleeping in to 9 AM!

Fishing, family, and fun in the sun

One of the great things about being in Arizona was spending time with our extended family. For those that don't know, I'm the only granddaughter on my dad's side. So, it's always entertaining to gather up all the manly Kelly and Baker Boy cousins.

We rarely get to see one another as most of the family lives in Colorado or in California. We spent quite a few evenings(and on into the night) at my cousin Timmy's home in the Phoenix area. It was the perfect place for all of the kids. The house has a pool that overlooks a pond. The weather was just perfect and lots of our crew headed outside to fish in the pond.

Holton loved my Uncle David. He's a true Colorado cowboy. He is one tough son of a gun, but was quite the softy around Holton. He wanted to keep fishing with Uncle Dabid :)

I love this picture of Adam helping Holton fish! Uncle Dabid bought Holton his own fishing pole. Poor little guy cried when we made him go in the house.

My dad works his tail off in Columbia, so it was great for him to relax for a little while in Arizona.
This is a quality picture of a very dirty faced Holton with Amanda. As you can see, he really enjoyed his ice cream.
It was great to hang out with Amanda
The pool was a big hit with the kids. I swear, they could swim all day and night! Oh, to be young again.
