The adventures of Ian

Holton's favorite Texas Rangers player is without a doubt Ian Kinsler.  Holton went to a couple games this year (we'll skip over how the Rangers season ended).  Whenever Kinsler is up to bat, Holton will scream "Go Ian!  Go Ian!"

Recently my Dad was heading back for another two weeks down in Columbia when he spotted an Ian Kinsler doll at the airport.  Isn't last minute airport shopping the best?

Knowing Holton's love for Ian, my Dad snagged up the doll and kept him with him for a couple weeks in Columbia.  Dad decided to document all of Ian's adventures.

Ian and the iguanas.  There are 3 - see them?

Then Dad took around one of their coal mines to let him play on the huge machines (note that I don't know the fancy terminology for these things - sorry Dad!).

Then Adam and my Dad headed off to Colorado for a week to work on all things hunting cabin, deer stand, blah, blah.  Ian seemed to really enjoy himself!

Ian caught a mouse....gross!

Holton was very appreciative and loved seeing all the pics of Ian.  And I'm happy to report that Ian is safe and home with us now.  Holton sleeps with him every night!

Weston turned two!!

It's so hard to believe that our little Weston Kirk turned two......way back on September 22nd.  I promise y'all I'm going to get in gear with this blog.

We went to Houston the weekend of Weston's party for our niece's wedding.  Glynna caught the bouquet at our wedding 12 years ago. Yes, this realization definitely makes us feel old!

Weston had a great time at the rehearsal dinner!

Getting ready for the wedding!  Don't pay any attention to Weston's hand placement.

The beautiful couple
Holton with Glynna!
The day after the wedding, family and friends gathered at Uncle Glyn and Aunt Karen's house to have brunch with the bride and groom. And.....they were sweet enough to get a cake for Weston.  It was a big hit!
And what is is a birthday without a few presents.

Happy late Birthday, Weston.  We love you so much!!  We'll end this post with a typical picture of rambunctious, ornery Weston....holding a jug of beer....sans clothes.

Time for school!

The past couple of weeks have brought on some big changes in our house.  Holton officially started kindergarten at the end of August.  He used to go to school/Pre-K 3 days a week, so the concept of 5 full days a week had us a little nervous.

But, Holton has done awesome with school!!  He was already the start student of the day.  Maybe it doesn't hurt this his teacher is very sweet, smart and cute (other moms said we did get the best teacher-yay!)

Holton and his teacher

The Friday before school started his teacher came to our house for a home visit.  Holton was able to show her his room and dogs.  I thought that was the coolest thing for our school district to offer!

Our big guy on his first day of Kindergarten.  Adam and I both took him to school that morning :)

Holton was probably really ready for me to leave

And......not to be outdone by his big bro, Weston started school too!!  My mom has watched him since he was 3 months old.  THANK YOU, MOM!!

But, it's time for Grandma to have some freedom and time for Weston to get some learning on'.  To get ready for his big day, our cute little guy got a hair cut.

And here is Weston on his first day!  He did pretty well....maybe cried more than I would have liked, but I'm sure he's going to do awesome.

Weston on day 3 - looks a little more comfortable.

Next thing we know, Weston will be in Kindergarten, so we have to enjoy this time!  It really does fly by so fast.

Who needs tonsils anyway?

Exactly one week ago Holton had his tonsils and adenoids removed.  The whole goal is to help him sleep better because....um....his tonsils were huge! I won't post the gross pics (just text Adam if you want to see them).

Anyhoo, Holton was such a great patient for the surgery!
Papa and Nana were sweet enough to come to the surgery center and brought Holton a penguin for the surgery.  Bev was also sweet to watch Weston (I'll have to update you on that character on my next post.....hand full!!)
Poor little fella post surgery.  But, he did great!  Me on the other hand...not so much.
At first the recovery was smooth sailing!
But then the wonderful steroids wore off and Holton didn't do so well with the pain.
And Weston didn't really help with the recovery process.  Ha, ha.  Holton was not feeling the brotherly love....at all.
So this was last night.  We made Holton get out of the house and try to eat.  Can you tell how big of a success that was?
But today Dr. Adam is on the job and says that Holton is doing much better.  Our goal is to get him better ASAP as he starts kindergarten in a week!  And I will once again be a basket case ;)

Moves Like Jagger?

My favorite part of this short dancing video is the first 10 seconds...when Holton wasn't aware of me filming him. Notice how quickly I turn the camera. Ha ha!

What can I say? My boys love some good ole Justin Bieber music. (they will hate me for this one day).
