Boys will be boys

I know, I know...I've been a very horrible blogger lately!! I've just been soaking up all the holiday fun, but I will update soon.

Until then, here is just a little video. Adam took this one last week. Oh, and Adam styled Weston's hair.

Thanksgiving Time!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and/or friends.  Adam and his brother are off hunting (he knew I was just dying for some more deer meat in our freezer ;), so I thought I'd update our blog and show what are our boys are up to this week.
Our niece and nephew are in town for Thanksgiving.  The boys are blessed to have several wonderful and adorable cousins, but Kiersten and Clayton are the oldest and Holton really looks up to them.  He's thrilled to have some time with them since they live 4 hours away.

So here are a few pics of the past couple days...

Weston carrying his absolute favorite blanket. He can't sleep without this thing!
Our little guy loved all the food. His favorite were the sweet potatoes.
Holton about to tattle on Kiersten and Clayton for going after a lost ball.

Aren't these the most beautiful faces?
To work off all the Thanksgiving calories, Grandma took the kids bowling.

 Clayton helping Holton bowl.
Then we all went out for a lovely Italian dinner.
Needless to say...this little guy suddenly has other ideas when we go out to eat.
I enjoyed my dinner at home in my lovely Italian to go box.  Good thing he's cute!

We have a 5 yr old!

Holton recently finished his first ever season of t-ball and soccer.  He really enjoyed playing both sports (we won't mention the one melt down he had during a soccer game)!  It was so much fun watching Holton play and improve each week.

And Adam really got into the whole sports scene too.  He had so much fun helping Holton practice and learn about being on a team (well, and trying to set him straight during that one melt down). Adam even made sure to cut his annual hunting trip short in order to attend Holton's last t-ball game.

To celebrate Holton's 5th birthday, we did a combo birthday party and end of the soccer season party.  Holton was very excited since his coach and teammates were there...not to mention they each got a super cool medal!

Soccer themed gift bags

What is a birthday party without some cool new toys!!

Papa and Nana got him his very first little knife (that is securely locked away in a drawer - he asks to use it for every possible task he can think of)

Weston even got to enjoy the big guy festivities!  His shirt says - this is my party shirt ;)
He liked the sports themed bounce house !

Cute little Jayda and her daddy, Jay, keeping an eye on things!

The cake, well to be honest, we'd seen better.  But, Holton seemed to really like it so it was a-ok

Our cute little niece Sutton approved of the cake too!

Dylan and Holton being typical boys
Holton had a great 5th Birthday.  It's so hard to believe he's already 5!  We are so blessed to have Holton.  He truly is the sweetest, most caring, compassionate little guy.  We love you, Holton!!

Happy Halloween!

It's hard to believe that we are already done with Halloween.  Where has this year gone?

Adam was our photographer and notice how he made sure to include Gus in the pic...

The boys had a great time on Halloween!  As you can see, Holton was Spiderman (thanks Grandma for his costume) and Weston was a skeleton (again, thanks Grandma!)

Look how excited Weston was...he was doing his famous "chicken wing" dance.

Our cute little guys!
The next two pictures were Adam's idea - to show Spiderman in action.

For the second year, we went trick or treating with our next door neighbors. Aren't they cute?  That is Hallie and little Alyssa.
Getting ready to hit the streets!
Weston LOVED his ride for the night.
  • Hallie was scared of some of the homes while Holton said he wasn't.  He said he was brave!
  • Weston absolutely loved the inflatables.  He would raise his arm up and scream at them.
  • We didn't have to stay out too long as Holton's bag got heavy and he reported he was tired.
  • Holton and Hallie then had a lot of fun handing out candy at our house.
  • Not too many teenagers that probably should have given up the whole trick or treat deal about 3 years ago.
  • All in all a great success!

A Country Boy (and girl) Can Survive

You know I can't forget about us adults and our Halloween costumes!!  One of my very best friends in the entire world, Holly, had a Halloween party this past weekend.  I haven't posted about Holly on our blog, but now is the perfect time.

Holly was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and it was a complete shock to us all.  Throughout this whole stressful experience, Holly has been an absolute inspiration to me and so many others.  I truly admire her strength, courage, and positive attitude.  She is a mom to 2 young kids and had to go through a heck of a lot over the past 7 months.  Thankfully she just wrapped up her last rounds of chemo & and she has a wonderful prognosis!

We are so happy to help her move forward with the next chapter of her life.  And what better way to celebrate then a good ole fashioned Halloween party!

I went as Dolly Parton to join Adam's costume - we'll get to him later - and this is Holly.  She looked fantastic as a sexy lil Medusa!
Holly's husband Jay, aka Lt. Dangle.
Sorry for the poor quality of these pics, used the ole phone that night.

Some of us girls at the party.  That's Dee on my right.

We knew that Adam was going to have a full beard for this party.  He just got back from deer hunting and he always sports his mountain man beard for a week or two after upon his return. Well, Dee's husband suggested that he be Hank Williams Jr. this year, especially given all the hot water old Hank got himeself into with ESPN.

How good does Adam look as Hank?  He even had the necklace, dirtbag belt buckle and the no Monday night football sticker.

Hank Jr. and  Dolly

Dolly and Hank with the Cords. It's always so fun to see them!  I've been friends with Dee since the 6th grade.  We are old, Dee!

Thank you for a great night Holly & Jay!  I do believe you have started a new tradition with this party.  We love y'all!
