The boys went hunting

Last week, Adam, my dad and my brother all loaded up to go to Colorado for their annual hunting trip. Nothing gets in the way of this tradition - nothing! Adam even went last year when I was 8 1/2 months pregnant (can we say obsessed). Adam has already said that Holton will be joining the hunting crew in four years. In preparation for that monumental event, Holton helped the hunting boys load everything up.

The pumpkin patch

Even though we live in the city, we ventured out to a pumpkin patch on Saturday! I'd never been to one before but I hear it's a right of passage with your kids. So Dee, Kaylee, Holton and I all loaded up to go take pictures and let the babies pick out their first pumpkins. Only in Texas would it be nearly 100 degrees that day!

Holton loved hitting the pumpkins (or expressing his musical abilties by playing the drums as I'd like to think ;). He enjoyed looking around at everyone and having his picture taken. The scenery must have been too much for him. You can see he didn’t smile for one of these, but he still looks cute.

He didn't want to smile here, not even the cute cartoon characters would help.

Holton really wanted to be in this picture alone - he's letting Kaylee know! We'll have to work on his flirting skills.

Picture time!

Bev was is in town for one night and needed to get her picture taken for a sorority event. For those that don't know, she was recently crowned the Valentine Queen of her Jasper, Alabama chapter. Apprently it's tradition that all women who receive this honor have to submit a professional picture to their national chapter. So, off to Kiddie Kandids we go in Babies R Us! What, isn't that where everyone goes for their pictures? Ha, ha! Bev also wanted her picture with Holton. So here are the pics from last night. It made me realize Adam and I really need to get a portrait with Holton. He's changing so much every day!

Stew and a new ride

We spent the weekend in Sulphur Springs visiting family and attending the World Famous Fall Festival!!! This event lets the good people of S.S. cook different types of stew over and open fire in the heat of September. Lucky for us the weather was perfect this year and we had so much fun showing off Holton. He even ate some of the stew - such a country boy!

In keeping with that theme, Adam picked up his new four wheeler in Texarkana. He is beyond excited about this. He's already teaching Holton how to be a true outdoorsman below.

Holton the Hunter

Whether he likes it or not, Holton is going to be a hunter. He has no choice in the matter! A little family background here – Adam and his Uncles went hunting each year on his Grandpa's land in Oklahoma. Adam still loves to hunt and talks about how great it is just to be outside and enjoying nature. I also grew up with my dad hunting every single October in Colorado. He would never dream of missing that one week a year. There is even a picture of me as a little girl hunting with my dad and having a good time (shocking to those that know me as the epitome of a city girl).

So, I understand the importance of camo, deer stands, the right binoculars and yes, even growing the beard in preparation for the annual hunting trip. With all of this hunting history Holton is bound to follow in his family’s footsteps. So to start preparing him now, my mom and dad got him his own camo overalls. He's on his way to make all the hunting men out there proud.

Holton's New Toy!

How great is Costco? We found this awesome toy for Holton while shopping for bulk supplies of paper towels, dog food, and cheap wine. Who knew they had such fun toys?

We were going to wait to give this to Holton for his first birthday, but with his recent health scare, we felt he deserved it right now! Not to mention that he's 10 months old and is crawling all over the place and wants to stand up on any random piece of furniture. Anything that will give us a few minutes of peace and quiet is priceless. So is seeing the smile on his face!
